Class Profile
• A typical yoga class includes stretching and yoga postures, vital breath practices, yoga energy-nap (yoga nidra), and deep relaxation practices.
• Help relieve physical, mental and emotional tensions – fatigue, stress and anxiety.
• Promote relaxed, alert awareness improving memory, cognition and concentration.
• Help balance the nervous system as well as other systems. Some benefits are, for example, increased cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency, better digestion, a strengthened immune system.
• Increase flexibility, strength, balance and coordination.
• All practices are adapted to suit the physical capacity of participants.
Classes may have a particular focus:
• Hatha - A system of exercises practiced as part of this discipline to promote control of the body and mind.
• Hatha Flow – Has more emphasis on the physical practices – flexibility, strength, balance and coordination.
• Stressbuster – Includes practices that are particularly useful in relieving physical and mental stress.
• Gentle – Non-cardio, sitting and standing postures.
• Mental clarity and focus – meditative practices and light postures.
Classes may be of any length from 45 minutes to 90 minutes.
