Christopher was born and raised in California. After
graduation from University worked in the banking industry. He then traveled to
Asia where he worked in education. In S. Korea he earned the degree of 1st
degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. While in India in 2000 he studied under three
different yoga traditions from Northern and Southern India. In Japan he studied
yoga and Zen Buddhism. He returned to Northern India where he trained at the
renowned Bihar School of Yoga
in the Bihar Yoga Bharati
Yoga University where he earned the degree of M.A. in Yoga Philosophy under the
guidance of Swami Niranjananda who initiated Chris into the yoga tradition with
the name ‘Jyotiratna Saraswati’. After completion of the course he headed for
Australia where he studied at the first accredited yoga school and
internationally recognized, Satyananda
Yoga Academy. He completed the teacher training at SYA; level one and two.
Jyoti continues to teach in San Francisco at various studios as a survey and
preparation for the opening of a Satyananda Yoga studio; California School of
Yoga; combining his knowledge of eastern traditions with the practical western
urban lifestyle is what inspires him to teach and live in San Francisco.
