This tradition of Yoga is known as Satyananda Yoga® or Bihar School of Yoga - established in 1963 by Swami Satyananda in India; the Yoga techniques developed there are a synthesis of many approaches to personal development, based on traditional vedantic, tantric and yogic teachings in conjunction with contemporary physical and mental health sciences. Bihar School of Yoga also guides yoga projects and medical research in association with prestigious hospitals, organisations and establishments. Programs made by Bihar School of Yoga are being used today in the education and prison Government sectors, in hospitals, by the Defence Services, private and public sector industries such as Coal India Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, the Steel Authority of India, Hindusthan Paper Corporation, Hindusthan Copper Corporation and many more. The university at Bihar School of Yoga, Bihar Yoga Bharait, founded in 1996 has been established along the lines of Nalanda and Vikramshila offers two-year graduate, one-year diploma, and four-month certificate courses in Yogic Studies, Applied Sciences, Psychology, Philosophy, Ecology. It is an Integrated approach to yoga beginning at the physical and progressing step by step through enhancement of vital force, mental capacity, concentration, meditation and beyond. BYB offers scholars, scientists, doctors and yoga aspirants from all parts of the world a golden opportunity to work together to formulate a scientific basis for the growth, expansion and rapid integration of yoga into modern society.
